Armaanpreet Singh

Second Year LLB Law with Business Law

Armaanpreet Singh is a second year LLB Law with Business Law student and the President of the Birmingham City University Law Society. A passionate advocate and competitive mooting champion, he is dedicated to driving the strategic growth of the society, enhancing member engagement, and fostering corporate connections to prepare students for successful legal careers.

Under Armaanpreet’s leadership, the society is focused on expanding its professional networking programme, strengthening relationships with law firms and chambers, and delivering an advocacy and mooting curriculum that genuinely prepares students for the legal profession.

The 2026/27 academic year marks a new chapter for BCU Law, Debating & Mooting Society, with a stronger corporate connections programme, a broader events calendar, and a renewed commitment to bridging academic study with professional practice.

Mursal Hottak

First Year LLB Law

Mursal Hottak is a first-year Law student at Birmingham City University and serves as Secretary of the BCU Law Society. An accomplished public speaker, she was crowned Mooting Champion in both semesters of her first year and won the Semester One Debating Competition, demonstrating her advocacy, communication, and legal reasoning skills. As Secretary, Mursal supports the day-to-day operations of the society while helping to create opportunities for students to develop their confidence, commercial awareness, and professional skills. She is passionate about encouraging fellow law students to engage in competitions, networking opportunities, and practical experiences that prepare them for successful careers in the legal profession.

Gia Dhami

LLB Law, Birmingham City University

Gia Dhami is a Law student at Birmingham City University and currently serves as Treasurer of the BCU Law Society. Previously, she was President of the League of Justice Pro Bono Team during the 2025/26 academic year, where she led the growth of the organisation from 12 to over 80 active members and helped raise more than £2,600 for charity through the Law School Challenge. Passionate about access to justice, leadership, and student development, Gia has contributed extensive volunteering hours across a range of legal and pro bono initiatives. Her dedication was recognised nationally when she was shortlisted for Best Contribution by an Individual at the 2026 LawWorks and Attorney General's Student Pro Bono Awards. As Treasurer, she is committed to supporting opportunities that help students develop practical legal skills, expand their professional networks, and enhance their employability throughout their legal careers.

Dora Smida

LLB Law, Birmingham City University

Dora Smida is a Law student at Birmingham City University and serves as Participation & Inclusion Executive for the BCU Law Society. Passionate about fostering an engaging and welcoming environment, she works to ensure students from all backgrounds feel represented, supported, and encouraged to get involved in society activities and opportunities. Alongside her studies, Dora has developed valuable experience through community-focused and public service roles, strengthening her communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills. She is committed to helping students make the most of their university experience by increasing participation in events, competitions, networking opportunities, and professional development initiatives that support future careers in the legal profession.
